About the Artist

My husband says, I am a "t-shirt and jeans kind of gal." I think I like that. Yes, it's true that I really don't make a fuss about style or fashion. I just like things to be simple. But at the same time, I like to be different. Not in a flashy flamboyant way, so people sometimes wonder what I'm talking about. Rather with me it's more subtle, like you have to look twice in order to notice. And so I've found jewelry design as the perfect way to create what is "simply different".

A warm, natural color palette is where it begins. But honestly, I don't know where it goes from there. But when I'm finished each creation is unlike any other, totally unique. Kind of like us. So, my hope is that you find something you like that is truly you, because I can guarantee that there will never be another two, like either of you, ever again.

Thanks for stopping by...

Husband's Perspective

The Daily Flow

October 30, 2007 - 11:24 AM
When I watch Sue work on her jewelry, most of it is improvisational and the result of just going with the flow of energy that she's feeling at that time. As it might be for many of us, any energy, let alone creative energy, can be tough to find. But I think Sue has discovered something wonderful that gives her the get-up-and-go she needs to take a piece from concept to completion. I know it to be true because I see it all the time.

It starts in the morning at daybreak, the deer run through the yard and into the field across the road. They frolic and play for a few minutes before it is time for them to disappear into the trees. Sue leans against the window and peers out towards them. Her gaze is fixed on the gentle creatures as she squints to see them through the morning mist. A few hours later, some deer will venture out again. They sneak away from their wooded hideaway and come right up on the lawn and eat the fallen apples in our yard. Sue acts like she's hiding and hoping they don't see her. But their ears keep flickering like they hear us breathing. Or maybe they hear our hearts beating. Nonetheless, soon they are startled because I need to get into the refrigerator. So they dart off again leaping, skipping, gliding away.

Now, the birds that visit our feeders are wonderful as well. It's a cafe for cardinal couples who come every day for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I know it's rude, but we watch them chow-down all the time. Then, when the red-bellied woodpecker comes, the other birds stay back or they'll get a sharp reminder of whose turn it is to eat. They all quickly get the point. Sue grabs the binoculars to get a closer look. I think she loves the detail. The white-breasted nuthatch enjoys his meal upside down. He's a quirky little guy. But I think the best of all are the hummers. When they arrive Sue is ecstatic because she knows that Summer is finally here. The ruby-throated hummingbirds are simply amazing. We will sit on the deck and watch as they whir past our heads at mach-two speed. Their little buzz always makes us smile. They bob and weave their way through the garden like mini laser guided missiles, then stop on a dime in mid-air. The petunias look tasty so they swoop down, and before you can blink, they're enjoying a cool refreshing drink. I am certain that Sue could watch and listen to them buzz through the yard all day. The hummers make the world a happy place for her.
